SINGHAM suffering by Objectionable Dialogues

The Kannada remake of Bollywood film ‘Singham’ commenced in Karnataka Saturday after the removal of some "objectionable" dialogues, a day after disruptions in its screening, officials said.

Pro-Kannada activists from the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike had gathered in front of Tribhuvan theatre here Friday to protest what they called anti-Kannada dialogues in the Ajay Devgn-Kajal Agarwal starrer.

Tribhuvan theatre`s assistant manager Anant told reporters that the objectionable dialogues had been removed from all the prints and digital discs of the film which released Friday.

Shows were organised in the Tribhuvan theatre where a group of police officers from nearby Upparpet police station watched the film along with the activists, he said.

"The pro-Kannada activists and police authorities have confirmed that there are no objectionable dialogues in the film now," Anant said.

The police officers later sent a report to their higher authorities. The screening will now resume in 27 theatres where it was scheduled to be screened.

Karnataka Rakshana Vedike president Narayana Gowda told reporters Friday that one of the dialogues in the film refers to "Kannadigas as dogs".

The film`s screening was also disrupted in Bidar, Belgaum, Gulbarga, Hubli and Kolar.

Sonam is face of Indian International jewelry

The five-day event, organized by the Gems & Jeweler Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) begins in Mumbai July 31.

Sonam Kapoor is the face of the India International Jewellery Week (IIJW) after designer Farah Khan Ali, who created waves at the inaugural edition last year decided to give it a miss this time due to other commitments.

'I am not showcasing at the second edition of the jewelry week as I am working on a bigger project which requires time and concentration,' said Farah, who was in the news recently after international singer Beyonce Knowles wore a crown designed by her for the new music album 4.

The jewelry at Mumbai's Grand Hyatt hotel will see collections from designers like Varuna D Jani and brands like Amrapali, Tanishq and Ganjam.

Top Bollywood celebrities, models and some international icons, whose names are being kept under wraps, have been roped in to walk the ramp during the event.

No need to private screening of `Singham`

SINGHAM is all set to hit the theatres this Friday. Devgn plays a Maharashtrian cop in the Rohit Shetty flick and it seems this has prompted MNS Chief Raj Thackeray to ask the star to hold a special screening of the film before it’s day of release.

Talking to a tabloid, a source confirmed the news and said, "Raj Thackeray wants to watch the film, and Ajay is trying his best to arrange a special screening for him."

Ajay plays Bajirao Singham, an honest police officer who is hell bent on resurrecting the deteriorating socio-political situation despite opposition from the antagonists.

"Since the film has really worked in Tamil, Raj Thackeray is keen to see how the janata in Maharashtra has been portrayed in the film," added the source.

The politician had previously asked Aamir Khan to organize a special screening of his adult comedy `Delhi Belly` for his friends. And the actor was more than happy to do so. And now its Ajay’s turn.

It will be interesting to hear Raj’s feedback after watching the film, for he will, get to see Ajay fighting corrupt politicians in `Singham`.
